Season's Greetings from all of us at Pratt & Larson

It's that time of year already, Ornament time!
A lot of  care goes into making our holiday ornaments every year - just like our tile.
Here's a peek behind the scenes.

From an original carving by Michael Pratt we made a mold for the press that lines up to stamp the front and the back, 4 at a time.

We made over 2000 ornaments and each one was hand-sanded and had a hole drilled at the top.

Then the ornaments were then set up on wire shelves to be glazed.

Then the ornaments were carefully loaded into the kilns and fired at close to 2000 degrees.

Happy Holidays from All of Us at Pratt & Larson

Autumn is here!

Right on cue it's suddenly Autumn here in Portland. Windy and rainy and then a blast of sunshine just when you'd given up on it! Here's a few projects moving through the factory that seem to mirror the weather -

Pretty leaves blowing around these 4x4's -

These were custom made for a client, they're getting ready to be fired and then glazed.

Some Autumn harvest vegetables in our Duochrome tone on tone hand painting -

And that blast of sunshine! Some Intaglio bubbles in a bright custom green -
Happy Autumn!

Introducing Filigree

The Filigree Series uses an intricate, delicate design to create an overall repeating pattern. As its name suggests it calls to mind delicate lacy metal work with it's precise clean lines.

There are 4 patterns available in a 6x6 format.

Glazes pool in the lower areas of the design and break on the high points, allowing the patterns to show beautifully in any of our glazes.

Filigree A in C52 & C611

 Filigree B in W1 & W92

Filigree C in C600 & W36

Filigree D in C609  & W61

The Filigree patterns repeat to create an intricate surface embellishment for a luxurious look. Visit a dealer near you to see these beautiful tiles in person or stop by our Portland showroom. We look forward to seeing you!

Street of Dreams 2013

We are very excited to be featured in not one, but two homes this year on the Street of Dreams in Stonehenge, West Linn. Once again our tile is showcased in the beautiful homes by Phil Pahlisch of Pahlisch Homes

First up is Clearhaven, described as a little bit of Nantucket here on the west coast, this house features cool hues and luxurious surfaces. Interiors were designed by Pahlisch Homes own Christina Ingham with tile specified by Paulson's Flooring designer Jamie Sixberry.

Pratt and Larson's Motif tile pattern makes a central appearance in the spectacular kitchen, both behind the stove and in the adjacent work area.

In the master bath our mosaic circles, in a beautiful neutral blend of colors with a metallic dot, are used to great effect around the sink, tub and floor.

The second Pahlisch Home is called Blackmore. At Blackmore old world grandeur meets modern luxury and Pratt & Larson tile adds a beautiful handcrafted touch to several rooms. The interiors of this home were designed by Carin Atterbury from Surface.

A panel of Filigree tile,  Pratt & Larson's newest line, is set off by two beautiful stones and stone architectural trim in this fantastic shower.

A Motif tile accent above the sink in this guest bath echos the arabesque pattern used in the shower with a dramatic stone architectural trim.

A third bathroom uses the arabesque shape as well, this time in Pratt and Larson's Large Arabesque field in a playful mix of colors.

As always, the homes in this years Street of Dreams promise to be gorgeous and full of wonderful design inspiration. The show starts this weekend, July 27th and runs until August 25th, be sure to make it out there for a tour. Special thanks to Jamie Sixberry from Paulson's Flooring and Carin Atterbury from Surface for choosing Pratt & Larson to be included in their beautiful designs.

Focused more on showing off the beautiful fields of color offered in our Craftsman glaze line the boards have a more contemporary, streamlined look. While they're perfect for a Craftsman bungalow update or a modern cabin retreat these beautiful glazes add a rich varied field of color to projects of any style.
